Focus
Staying focused… Ugh, it is so hard at times to stay focused and not be distracted by the cares of this world, the desires of our heart or the highs and lows of social statuses. I remember as a little girl I would daydream for hours. In school I use to get into trouble for this all the time, one of the schools even tried to label me A.D.D. We all know that our best lives are first lived in our daydreams before they even become a reality. Some of us are still trying to achieve some of those great moments we envisioned long ago.
Have you ever wanted something so bad that the thought of it can change your whole mood? I am not talking about that this thing is your God but it is a great desire you have, one that you have had many conversations with God about. You and Him can sit and talk for hours about it, even laugh and cry about it. But when life doesn’t seem to be going the way you imagined. Or His plans seem like they are taking you further and further way from those longings of the heart. Like it is so far out of reach that it feels as if you will never get back to it, your whole mood can change. We become distracted with trying to figure out, did we miss something? Is it too late? Will we ever get to live that daydream out loud? Is there something greater? What can I do?
The truth brothers and sisters is I do not know the answer to those questions. What I do know is that when we take our eyes off of Jesus and try to figure things out or make sense of it, our emotions begin to ride this roller-coaster within us that takes us through a lot of ups and downs. Without realizing it we make ourselves vulnerable to the lies of the enemy. And just like Peter we begin to sink… doubt and anxiety have set in, causing us to go down this spiral of hopelessness. When this happens some of us try to erase these desires/longings from our daydreams. From the life we once thought that would be granted to us. At times this even affects our trust in God.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.- Proverbs 13:12 (NIV)
Brothers and sisters I do not no what longing/desires you have been waiting for a long time. I do not have the answers or a formula to get you where you want to be in life but what I can say is, we serve a God who wants to bless us more than we want Him to bless us. He wants to have a conversation with us to ease every fear and doubt. He wants to bring hope into our lives and wants us to trust Him with our lives. He wants to dry every tear from our eyes and mend our broken hearts. Most of all He wants us to remember that He is the God of time and as long as there is breath in our lungs, He is not done with us
and there is still time! Stay focused. You are loved.
Mantenerse enfocado… Uf, a veces es tan difícil mantenerse enfocado y no distraerse con las preocupaciones de este mundo, los deseos de nuestro corazón o los altibajos de los estados sociales. Recuerdo que cuando era niña soñaba despierta durante horas. En la escuela solía meterme en problemas por eso todo el tiempo, una de las escuelas trató de etiquetarme A.D.D. Todos sabemos queue nuestras mejores vidas se vivieron primero en nuestros sueños antes de que se hicieran realidad. Algunos de nosotros todavía estamos tratando de lograr algunos de esos grandes momentos queue imaginamos hace mucho tiempo.
¿Alguna vez has querido algo tan desesperadamente que el solo hecho de pensar en ello puede cambiar tu estado de ánimo por completo? No estoy hablando de que esta cosa sea tu Dios, pero es unÉ gran deseo que tienes, uno sobre el que has tenido muchas conversaciones con Dios. Tú y Él pueden sentarse y hablar durante horas al respecto, incluso reír y llorar al respecto. Pero cuando la vida no parece ir como la imaginabas. O parece que Sus planes te están alejando cada vez más de esos anhelos del corazón. Como si estuviera tan fuera de alcance que se siente como si nunca fuera a volver a él, todo tu estado de ánimo puede cambiar. ¿Nos distraemos tratando de averiguar si, nos perdimos algo? ¿Es demasiado tarde? ¿Alguna vez llegaremos a vivir ese sueño en realidad? ¿Hay algo más grande? ¿Que puedo hacer?
La verdad, hermanos y hermanas, es que no sé la respuesta a esas preguntas. Lo que sí sé es queue cuando quitamos los ojos de Jesús y tratamos de entender las cosas o darles sentido, nuestras emociones comienzan a montar esta montaña rusa dentro de nosotros que nos lleva a través de muchos altibajos. Sin darnos cuenta nos hacemos vulnerables a las mentiras del enemigo. Y al igual que Pedro empezamos a hundirnos… la duda y la ansiedad se han instalado, haciéndonos descender por esta espiral de desesperanza. Cuando esto sucede, algunos de nosotros tratamos de borrar estos deseos/anhelos de nuestros sueños. De la vida que alguna vez pensamos que nos sería otorgada. A veces esto incluso afecta nuestra confianza en Dios.

Hermanos y hermanas, no sé qué anhelos/deseos han estado esperando durante mucho tiempo. No tengo las respuestas ni una fórmula para llevarte a donde quieres estar en la vida, pero lo que puedo decir es, que servimos a un Dios que quiere bendecirnos más de lo que queremos que Él nos bendiga. Él quiere tener una conversación con nosotros para aliviar cada temor y duda. Él quiere traer esperanza a nuestras vidas y quiere que confiemos en Él con nuestras vidas. Él quiere secar cada lágrima de nuestros ojos y reparar nuestros corazones rotos. Más que nada, Él quiere que recordemos que Él es el Dios del tiempo y mientras haya aliento en nuestros pulmones, ¡Él no ha terminado con nosotros y todavía hay tiempo! Mantente enfocado. Eres amado.
