Repentance

Have you ever been driving and gotten lost? You are going in a direction that seems to be right to you but the further you go the more the area seems unfamiliar. You begin to look for a U-turn or somewhere to turn around so that you can go in the right direction. This is what repentance looks like. You may be living a life not pleasing to the Lord. Maybe you continue to live in certain sins, not really because you like them or like how they make you feel but because they are a comfort zone to you. You may think you are doing the right things but the truth is the life you are living is driving you further and further from the Lord.

When we find that U-turn there is this sigh of relief, you know things are about to change and you will be arriving at your destination soon. Though going in the wrong direction extended the estimated time of arrival, the good news is you are still going to make it. Change can be hard, you know it is for the best and will have great results but the act of making a complete turnaround is going to take work and persistence. That is the feeling we feel when we come to repentance before our Heavenly Father and ask Him to forgive us for hurting Him, resisting Him, sinning against Him, lying to Him, or offending Him. When we humble our hearts to the Creator, “He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness”. Staying in that heart position of humbleness and surrender before the Almighty is going to take work on our part, perseverance, and a whole lot of resisting of the enemy.

Repentance means you turn from the sin that is causing separation between you and your Heavenly Father. That sin or life style is no longer your default. You have a new default and that is Jesus Christ. His ways become your ways, His thoughts become your thoughts, and His deeds (actions/works) become your deeds (actions/works). How do we do this…. when we come before the Father and repent the next step is to submit, but what do we submit to? Him, we submit to Him by reading our word (Bible) and doing what it says. We submit by spending alone time with Him in worship and stillness. The light which is Jesus is there to help us go in the right direction and guide our every step. No matter how far you think you have gone, you can always turn around and make it back into the arms of your Heavenly Father!

Brothers and sisters which direction are you going in and do you need to turn around? You are loved.

¿Alguna vez has estado conduciendo y te has perdido? Vas en una dirección que te parece correcta, pero cuanto más avanzas, más desconocida te parece la zona. Empiezas a buscar un virar o algún lugar para dar la vuelta para poder ir en la dirección correcta. Así es como se ve el arrepentimiento. Puede que estés viviendo una vida que no agrada al Señor. Tal vez continúas viviendo en ciertos pecados, no porque realmente te gusten o te guste cómo te hacen sentir, sino porque son una zona de comodidad para ti. Puedes pensar que estás haciendo lo correcto, pero la verdad es que la vida que estás viviendo te aleja cada vez más del Señor.

Cuando encontramos que el Uturn hay un suspiro de alivio, sabes que las cosas están a punto de cambiar y pronto llegarás a tu destino. Aunque ir en la dirección equivocada prolongó el tiempo estimado de llegada, la buena noticia es que aún lo logrará. El cambio puede ser difícil, usted sabe que es lo mejor y tendrá grandes resultados, pero el acto de dar una vira completo requerirá trabajo y persistencia. Ese es el sentimiento que sentimos cuando nos arrepentimos ante nuestro Padre Celestial y le pedimos que nos perdone por lastimarlo, resistirlo, pecar contra Él, mentirle o ofenderlo. Cuando humillamos nuestros corazones al Creador, “Él es fiel y justo para perdonarnos y limpiarnos de TODA maldad”. Permanecer en esa posición del corazón de humildad y rendición ante el Todopoderoso va a requerir trabajo de nuestra parte, perseverancia y mucha resistencia al enemigo.

El arrepentimiento significa que te alejas del pecado que está causando la separación entre tú y tu Padre Celestial. Ese pecado o estilo de vida ya no es su defecto. Tienes un nuevo predeterminado y ese es Jesucristo. Sus caminos se convierten en vuestros caminos, Sus pensamientos se convierten en vuestros pensamientos, y Sus andanzas (acciónes/obras) se convierten en vuestras andanzas (acciónes/obras). ¿Cómo hacemos esto?… cuando nos presentamos ante el Padre y nos arrepentimos, el siguiente paso es someternos, pero ¿a qué nos sometemos? Él, nos sometemos a Él leyendo nuestra palabra (Biblia) y haciendo lo que dice. Nos sometemos al pasar tiempo a solas con Él en adoración y quietud. La luz que es Jesús está ahí para ayudarnos a ir en la dirección correcta y guiar cada uno de nuestros pasos. No importa cuán lejos creas que has llegado, ¡siempre puedes darte la vuelta y regresar a los brazos de tu Padre Celestial!

Hermanos y hermanas, ¿en qué dirección van y necesitan dar la vuelta? Eres amado.
